The previous EBUCC editions took place on the beautiful beaches of Castelldefels, Spain; Portimão, Portugal; and Royan, France. However, you’re yet to experience EBUCC in Gdańsk, Poland. The city is hosting EBUCC 2025 from 6-8th June with a relaxed, laid-back summer camp vibe on the outskirts of the city. In this post, you’ll get a glimpse of the city, tournament nutrition options, and accommodations.
Gdańsk: A City Forged in History, Gilded by Amber
Gdańsk is a city located in the north of Poland, crowned by an expansive coastline of the Gdańsk Bay in the Southern Baltic Sea. The medieval architecture of the Main Town whispers tales of Hanseatic grandeur and pivotal moments in European history. It’s a city raised from the ashes of 20th-century history, intertwining modernity with a thriving cultural scene.
EBUCC 2025 is taking place in Stogi – a district of Gdańsk located on the outskirts of the city, on Port Island. It’s a popular recreational place among both citizens and tourists due to the rich camping offers and comfortable tram infrastructure. The beautiful and vast beach is surrounded by forests, with a magnificent view of the shipyard. Gdańsk’s famed coastline is a siren’s call to amber hunters, where the myth of Jurata’s shattered palace fuels the search for amber treasures. Perhaps you’ll be lucky and find yourself a shard at Stogi, too!
Combatting Wolfish Hunger: Tournament Food Essentials
While Gdańsk is famous for its delicious cuisine, Stogi’s offer is bleak in comparison. Luckily, the Local Organizing Committee has you covered with a great selection of nutritional and yummy options from Wilczy Głód (eng. Wolfish Hunger), known by Polish ultimate frisbee players as the long-term food supplier at the Polish Beach Nationals.
The food selections include breakfast, lunch, and dinner (eat-in or takeaway). Available food options are vegetarian, vegan, and meat-based meals. Lunch will be a nutritious bowl, and dinner will be a warm, nourishing meal.
On top of the above meals, the tournament venue will host a food court with food prepared on the spot. Some examples of the offered edibles will include toasties, salads, smoothies, juices, and panini.
If you’re still craving nutrition after the whole day of the tournament, there are bars near the beach and the campsites. And… Lidl is just a one tram stop away.
Dream by the Dunes: Beach Camping for Tournament Players
Considering that Stogi is an outskirts district, strategize your sleeping arrangements wisely! You know… for victory and to be able to get a good rest between the games. No one wants to spend their mornings stressing out and commuting. Take it from a local – I live here, and I always stay at the camp during the Beach Nationals. For me, nothing beats that extra few minutes of sleep and 10 minutes of a lazy stroll to the tournament venue.
Moreover, the Local Organising Committee has prepared an accommodation offer, so you don’t need to figure it out on your own. Currently, all the spots are taken, but you can check back if any additional bungalows are still available.
Unwind in the Heart of Gdańsk
However, if you are an early bird and prefer to experience the historical aspects of Gdańsk, the local city life, and the cuisine, your best bet will be the hotels in the heart of the city. The Local Organising Committee has prepared a list of hotels with discounts to make your search easier. Stogi is just a 32-minute tram (lines 8 and 9) and bus commute from the city center, but the ongoing bridge repair may extend the trip a little. Advice? Don’t sleep in! The special bus (T8) to Port Island is free, but trams and local buses that you may take before the change are not.
If you want to experience the nightlife, you can visit many iconic bars in the city center or visit Elektryków Street and 100cznia. It’s where the locals hang out among the old dockyard spaces, which are an important part of Gdańsk’s history of resistance and freedom. All the best places in the city center can be reached on foot, so you don’t need to travel too far!
June is just around the corner, and we hope that you’re as excited about EBUCC 2025 as everyone involved in preparing for the tournament. See you in Gdańsk soon, and meanwhile, stay up to date by following our social media announcements!
