For its fifth edition, EBUCC returns to its roots in Figueira da Foz, Portugal – and its biggest edition yet! From October 16-18, the best club teams from 21 nations come together in 63 Teams to compete for the European Beach Crown. Alongside world beach champions and other staples in the European beach scene, new untested teams take on this largest iteration of EBUCC, organized by BULA, the European Flying Disc Federation, and the Portuguese Flying Disc Association (APUDD).
The mix of experience, talent, and club chemistry within the teams – exciting matchups and showdowns are bound to happen! Besides beach ultimate powerhouses and EBUCC defending champions jinX (Germany) in the Women´s division, UFA (Portugal) in the Mixed division, and Solaris (Poland) in the Open division, hereis a closer look and some insights into the other teams competing on Portuguese sands next month!
The Women’s division prepares for Figueira da Foz with the busy outdoor season in mind. A mix of high-caliber contenders and rebuilding squads will take to the sand in just a month. One of these contenders for gold is Troubles (Poland), who are leaving zero detail to chance. Following their silver medal finish at EBUCC 2025, the Polish powerhouse launched a rigorous build-up starting with two rounds of summer tryouts. Boasting a roster packed with national-level talent—many of whom secured a 6th-place finish for Poland at WBUC and 2nd at EBUCC last year. The squad includes a 6-person leadership team as well as one non-playing coach. Their mission is clear: return to the final and take home the gold.
An underdog with medal opportunities is Wuf (Belgium), who add youthful energy to their ambitions going into EBUCC. Their roster blends dynamic returnees – including key player Axelle returning from injury – with a talented core of U20 players fresh off an active summer season. Focused on testing their ceiling against Europe’s best, YWuf looks to be a dangerous wildcard in the division.
Hucks (Denmark) bring a vastly different, grounded perspective to the tournament. Coming off a heavy WUCC campaign, the Danish side approaches the event with relaxed expectations and a focus on growth. Drawing on a tight-knit national ultimate community, the team features core roster mainstays alongside returning veterans. Prioritizing adaptable roles, shared responsibilities, and team chemistry, Hucks aims to reconnect on and off the field while building on their rich beach history, including a 3rd-place podium finish in 2023.
Between gold-medal ambitions, veteran comebacks, and explosive young talent, the Women’s division is shaping up to be a total thriller—promising ruthless competition, dramatic finishes, and world-class beach ultimate from start to finish.
The Mixed Division looks to combine the best ultimate teams of Europe with the challenge of a different surface – sand. Following a demanding international outdoor season dominated by the World Ultimate Club Championships (WUCC), several top-tier programs are treating the trip to Portugal as their last international event of 2026.
GRUT (Netherlands) return to their roots as a mixed team after successful runs in the single-gender divisions. Returning with the Dutch team is Jakob Dunsirn, who will make a difference for the MMP side of the squad. GRUT is heading to the coast to enjoy the highest level of beach ultimate in Europe, without the performance pressure felt throughout the season.
Reigning EBUCC silver medalists FUJ (Czechia) return to the beach with a fresh look. After a standout 2025 campaign that saw them capture silver in Portugal and claim bronze at the World Championships, the Czech squad features a heavily overhauled roster. While their core baseline remains high, the team notes that Portugal serves as a rewarding “cherry on top” to cap off their season.
Playing their second EBUCC after the 2023 edition, GTV (AUT) will show up with the same core, but add some fresh talent to their homegrown roster. Hailing from Gleisdorf, a town in the heart of Austria, the team counts on their chemistry. Watch out for Sophie Felgitsch, the FMP stats leader of EBUCC 2023. The Austrian team won the national beach championship last year and are looking for another title next week, as well as using this tournament
Mighty Hucks (Great Britain) take a tactical approach to roster management across divisions. With the club channeling its primary competitive firepower into a quarterfinal push in the Open division, the Mixed roster features a composite group of experienced players from various British domestic clubs.
The Open Division heats up in Figueira da Foz as elite beach powerhouses and high-level composite rosters to go all the way on the sand.
Setting their sights firmly on the top of the podium, Jetset (Belgium) enter the tournament with championship expectations. Armed with seven proven World Champions on their roster alongside a wave of dynamic young talent, the Belgian titan is targeting a medal. While their limited shared practice time before the tournament presents an early chemistry test, Jetset’s unmatched individual caliber, elite big-game experience, and lethal athleticism position them as immediate title favorites.
Mighty Hucks (Great Britain) bring a competitive focus to the Open Division. They have designated their Open roster as the club’s primary competitive hammer. With equally limited playing time together, the squad brings a battle-tested group of athletes from various British clubs. Channeling their collective top-tier experience, Mighty Hucks enter Portugal with an aggressive goal: breaking into the bracket and pushing deep into the quarterfinals.
Joining the title race with a revamped squad, FT Würzburg (Germany) steps onto the sand with greater roster depth and a more dynamic play style than last season. Despite losing key receivers, the German side re-engages three veteran returnees from their previous WBUCC campaign alongside four promising rookies. While Würzburg limited their formal joint preparation to the German Beach Championship, strong existing chemistry across crossover lineups promises quick integration on the sand. Aiming to firmly establish themselves in the top tier of European beach ultimate, FT Würzburg also treat this EBUCC run as a key launching pad for WBUCC 2027, where they plan to field their strongest roster to date.
As the curtain falls on the 2026 season, all roads lead to the golden sands of Figueira da Foz. EBUCC 2026 stands as the final showcase of the year. Across the three divisions, World Champions and continental heavyweights are converging to hunt for gold. Expect high-flying layouts, explosive match-ups, and world-class beach ultimate to close out the 2026 season in spectacular fashion!
