EBUCC 2025 - Day 2 - Setting The Stage For The Finals!

On the second day of the tournament, the grumpy Gdańsk weather greeted us with clear blue skies, blazing sun, and warmth. It looks like the summer weather has arrived for the tournament! The 9 am games started with the Women’s games!

Women’s Pre-Quarters

The morning games brought quite a thrill, especially if you followed the live game at the mPower Arena! 🇵🇱 Troubles played against 🇩🇪 jinX midnight with a few plot twists. Both teams look strong, and on Friday, both teams took the 1st spots in their Pools. In the first half of the games, both teams went head-to-head, but with few difficult decisions on Troubles’ side, and good plays on jinX’s side, the German team took the lead. It seemed that Jinx would lead the game until the very end in the second half, however, Troubles scored 3 points in a row in the final stage of the game. Jinx managed to capitalize on the mistakes made by Troubles during the offensive points and won the game 11-9.

Another exciting game had 🇪🇸 Sharks play against 🇸🇪 E6. The Spanish team dominated the first half, but E6 made a massive comeback in the second half of the game! The Swedish team picked up their pace and scored 7 points in the second half of the game, catching up with the Sharks in the universe point. The final goal was in favor of E6 with a score of 12-11.

The remaining 8 teams in the Women’s division played a cross to either land in the Playoffs (1-8) or fall to Pool D (9-13). 🇩🇪 Undercover Dresden won with 🇩🇰 Copenhagen Spinners (12-9). 🇵🇱 Polonki defeated 🇬🇧 Crèche The Zone (11-4). 🇱🇻 Salaspils FK dominated the game against 🇬🇧 Brighton Women (13-1), and 🇩🇪 Seagulls Hamburg ensured their spot in the Playoffs by defeating 🇳🇱 Gronical Dizzines (13-3).

Mixed and Open rounds continue!

With the sun blazing and the wind picking up, EBUCC 2025 entered the final stage of the Pool games, and the Open division had Pre-Quarters. The weather continued to be great, though the wind started to pick up considerably with the incoming clouds.

Mixed Division – final stage of the Pool games

In Pool A, 🇵🇹 UFA won 13-11 with 🇬🇧 Deep Dish Discs, and 🇫🇮 PuTi defeated 🇦🇹 Flugsaurier Welswith a score of 13-7. At the mPower Arena, 🇨🇿 F.U.J. dominated the game against 🇪🇸 Bravas with a score of 13-3. The second game of Pool B had 🇳🇱 Remix win with 🇩🇰 DTU (12-7). Pool C, had three live games. 🇺🇦 Ukraine lost to 🇸🇰 Outsiterz (6-12), while 🇱🇻 Ventspils won their match against 🇳🇴 Furuset Brickers (11-6). The last game of the Pool was in full control of 🇨🇿 Terrible Monkeys, resulting in 🇱🇺 Ultimate deLux losing 5-13 to them.

In Pool D, 🇩🇪 Frubb Frankfurt and 🇨🇭 Wizards Geneva almost point-for-point game, which ended in a universe point. The score of the game was 8-7 in favor of the German team. 🇪🇸 Murciélagos made an early advantage over 🇵🇱 Grandmaster Flash, winning 13-5.

Open – Pre-Quarters

During the open division games, the winners advanced to the Playoffs (1-8), while the losing teams landed either in the Playoffs (9-16) or Recovery games.

In the following games, the teams played either for advancement to the Playoffs, places 1-8, or falling into the Playoffs for places 9-16.

At the mPower Arena, 🇩🇪 Jogo Bronito played against 🇨🇿 Brblava, but after the even start of the games, they struggled to beat their opponents. The game ended with a score of 12-9 in favor of the Czechs.

🇸🇪 Viksjöfors, after an exhaustive showdown with 🇩🇰 KFK, lost 13-10, ending up in the Playoffs of 9-12. In another game, 🇱🇹 Vorai lost to 🇳🇱 WAF, who won 12-9, and 🇵🇱 Solaris defeated 🇵🇱 AKS 13 to 3.🇬🇧 Bristol Open advanced to Playoffs 1-8, after defeating 🇨🇭 ZU platZHirsch with a score of 11-4. Finally, 🇬🇧 Fatih Ultimate lost to 🇪🇸 Sharks (7-13), and fell to Playoffs 9-16.

The games for either advancing to the 1-8 Playoffs or recovery games took place between four teams. 🇩🇪 Goldfingers Potsdam lost to 🇮🇪 CRISIS CLUB, and landed a Recovery game, while the Irish advanced to Playoffs 1-8. In the last game of the round, 🇩🇪 FT Würzburg won with 🇵🇹 Gambozinos 13-9.

Women’s – Quarterfinals

At the mPower Arena, 🇵🇱 Polonki face the 🇪🇸 Sharks again. In the Pool match, Polonki lost in the universe point in a hard-fought game. However, Sharks were quick to set the conditions of the game, and with a few too many mistakes, Polonki fell behind. The game ended with the Sharks advancing to the finals (13-2).

Another Quarterfinal had 🇩🇪 jinX midnight play against 🇩🇪 Undercover Dresden. jinX didn’t give much space for the other German team to take the lead. As a result, they won 13-4 and advanced to the semifinals, where they’ll play against the Sharks!

The last two games had 🇩🇪 Seagulls Hamburg face 🇸🇪 E6, where they led the game, and the Swedish team had to chase them. Seagulls advanced to the semifinals after winning 13-9. In the last quarterfinal, 🇵🇱 Troubles played against the 🇱🇻 Salaspils FK. At the start of the game, the teams played evenly, though after the 5th point, the Latvian team took off and scored 4 points in a row! Troubles replied with 3 points in a row to have a shot at the semis! After that, both teams were doing their best to take the lead. In the final stage of the game, Troubles scored 3 points in a row, winning the match. They will face the Seagulls in the semifinals.

Playoffs, quarters, and semis!

The wind picking up made the games even more challenging, testing the skills of the players. The weather warnings kept coming in, though everyone kept their fingers crossed for the milder conditions. With all hands on board, the organizers were getting ready for anything while another round of the games started.

Mixed – Playoffs (1-16)

The Mixed games finally arrived at the Playoffs (1-16) stage! The winners would advance to the quarterfinals, while the losing teams would fall into Pool E (17-21).

In the first game, 🇵🇹 UFA took a quick lead against 🇦🇹 Styrian Hawks, and won with a score of 13-4. Next, 🇺🇦 Ukraine defeated 🇩🇪 Frubb Frankfurt 13 to 9, and with the same score 🇪🇸 Murciélagos won against 🇱🇻 Ventspils. In another game, 🇪🇸 Bravas lost to 🇬🇧 Deep Dish Discs (9-13), and 🇦🇹 Flugsaurier Wels against unstoppable 🇨🇿 F.U.J. (13-8). 🇸🇪 Solklar lost to 🇨🇿 Terrible Monkeys with a score of 8-13. 🇵🇱 Grandmaster Flash lost to 🇸🇰 Outsiterz with a score of 7-13. 🇫🇮 PuTi won with 🇳🇱 Remix, after stepping up their game in the middle of the match.

Open – Quarterfinals

At mPower Arena 🇵🇱 Solaris against 🇩🇰 KFK. The issue with the quarterfinals? If you blinked, you could miss all the action – that’s how fast the Polish team was. They scored 11 points before KFK managed to score. The game ended soon after KFK scored two points (13-2), landing Solaris in the semifinals. At the same time 🇳🇱 WAF and 🇮🇪 CRISIS CLUB had a game full of twists and turns. By the second half, it was clear that the Crisis Club set their eyes on the semifinals. After a win 12-8, they were set to play against Solaris.

In other quarterfinals, 🇪🇸 Sharks built an early advantage in the game against 🇬🇧 Bristol Open. The game ended with a score of 13-7. 🇩🇪 FT Würzburg and 🇨🇿 Brblava had an even start, until the German team took over the game with 4 points in a row. After that, the Czech team had to work hard to fight back. They lost by just 3 points (10-13), and their opponents advanced to the semifinals with a game against the Sharks.

Women – Semifinals

At mPower Arena, 🇩🇪 jinX midnight played against 🇪🇸 Sharks in the Women’s semifinals. At the same time 🇵🇱 Troubles went against 🇩🇪 Seagulls. After an even start, jinX started to build a steady advantage against the Spanish team, resulting in a win 13 to 8. On the neighbouring field, Troubles didn’t give Seagulls much space to call the shots. Early in the game, they scored 5 points in a row, forcing the German team to chase the score. However, the second half of the game also belonged to Troubles, who scored another 5 points in a row. The final score was 13-2.

As a result, we’re going to see an exciting game between 🇩🇪 jinX midnight and 🇵🇱 Troubles!

The final stages of the games are on!

With the Women’s semifinals resolved, we were only left with the Open division semifinals and Mixed quarter and semifinals. As the weather worsened and the wind picked up, the games became more challenging for the teams.

Mixed – Quarterfinals

Heading into the quarterfinals, 🇵🇹 UFA faced 🇺🇦 Ukraine, where the Portuguese team was victorious with a comfortable advantage (13-8). At the same time, 🇪🇸 Murciélagos played against 🇬🇧 Deep Dish Discs, winning by just 2 points! As a result, 🇪🇸 Murciélagos were set to play against 🇵🇹 UFA. 🇨🇿 F.U.J. remained victorious by defeating 🇨🇿 Terrible Monkeys 13-8. 🇸🇰 Outsiterz and 🇫🇮 PuTi played a game full of twists, with the Czech team chasing the score the whole game. They managed to catch up with 🇫🇮 PuTi, and both teams played a universe point. In the end, 🇸🇰 Outsiterz managed to win the game with the score of 10-9.

Open – Semifinals

In 🇵🇱 Solaris and 🇮🇪 CRISIS CLUB semifinals, the Polish team was again unstoppable. They set the tone for the game from the beginning, scoring 13-4 against the Irish team. In the second semifinal, 🇩🇪 FT Würzburg played against 🇪🇸 Sharks at the mPower Arena! The game looked more even than the other semifinal, even though the Sharks slowly took control of the match. The game ended with the score of 12-8.

As a result, Sharks will face Solaris at the EBUCC 2025 final!

Mixed Semifinals

In the Mixed semifinals, 🇨🇿 F.U.J. played against the 🇸🇰 Outsiterz. At first, the Slovak team was leading the game, but F.U.J. stepped up their game and caught up. The semifinals had milder wind conditions, but the teams had to deal with the rain. Both teams were going head-to-head, however, F.U.J. managed to make an important break and won the game 10 to 9.

At the mPower Arena 🇵🇹UFA played against 🇪🇸Murciélagos. At the beginning of the game, UFA was leading, but the Spanish team tried to catch up with the Portuguese team. The middle game was more evened out, resulting in a universe point. In the end, UFA was victorious.

In tomorrow’s finals 🇵🇹UFA will play against 🇨🇿 F.U.J.!
